TERRY ROYER
Executive Chairman
In 1974 Terry co-founded Royco Hotels; one of North America’s leading hotel management and franchising companies. With more than 35 years of experience in the hotel business Terry has a well-deserved reputation as a leader and innovator within the industry. Over the years Royco under his leadership has developed and operated numerous properties ranging from Limited Service to 5-Star Resorts, including the Banff Rocky Mountain Resort and the Grand Okanogan Resort in Kelowna. During the mid 1990's, Royco worked with other groups who acquired Forte Hotels (U.S. subsidiary of Forte PLC) and as Chief Operating Officer of the resulting Chartwell Leisure with over 100 properties Terry delivered very significant gains to the shareholders quickly. This has been the hallmark of Royco. Terry was co-founder of the Canadian Institute of Tourism (Conference Board of Canada) and has served on various for profit and not for profit Boards in many case as Chairman. He currently serves on the Board, Executive Committee and is the Independent Lead Director of Corus Entertainment (TSX listed as CJRB and NYSE as CJR) and is Chairman Emeritus of the University of Lethbridge. Terry holds the professional designation (ICD.D) from the Institute of Corporate Directors; was awarded the Queen’s Jubilee Medal for Service to the Citizens of Canada and the Centennial Medal for Citizenship by the province of Alberta. Terry holds a BASc (Economics) from University of Lethbridge, an MBA from the Ivey school of Business and an LLD from the University of Lethbridge.
GREG ROYER
President
With more than 30 years experience as an owner, operator and Executive (including CEO and COO) in the hotel and hospitality industry, Greg has been one of the key drivers in Royco’s success. Greg managed his first full service hotel in 1973 at the age of 21. In 1975 Greg joined Terry Royer in the opening of their first hotel in Red Deer, Alberta and together over the next 31 years built and operated hotels from Vancouver B.C. to Montreal, Quebec as well as operated hotels throughout North America and Mexico. Greg has constantly demonstrated his ability to build strong motivated working teams with proven capability to not only operate various styles of hotels, from Super 8 to Hilton, from roadside hotels to five star luxury resorts, but also to operate all of those hotels at the highest level of the franchisors' standards. Greg was also intricately involved with the establishment of one of Canada's largest vacation and timeshare companies, again playing a key role in the Canadian Resort Community, and creating strong working relationships with both RCI and Interval International, two of the largest players in the Timeshare industry. Throughout the years Greg has held numerous executive positions in the hospitality business, including co-founder and Chief Operations Officer of a national hotel chain, and President of Travelodge Canada Corp. He has served on a number of hotel, timeshare and franchise boards, including Travelodge International Marketing and Calgary Tourism and Convention Bureaus.
CANDACE A. DYER
Senior Vice President of Operations
Ms Dyer has been in the hospitality industry for 12 years. Her experience ranges from being a General Manager of a Super 8 Motel, a Regional Director of Sales and Marketing for Cendant Corporation and a Regional Director of Operations for motels to her current position as Senior Vice President of Operations. She is a Certified Hotel Administrator, and has received various awards within the hospitality industry. Ms Dyer also has experience in ownership and management of retail stores.
MICHAEL WOODHOUSE
Vice President of Hotel Operations
Mr. Woodhouse has 15 years in the Hospitality industry ranging from Sales to Vice President Operations for a small management company. He also served as a regional trainer for Ramada Franchise Systems. One Ramada managed by Mr. Woodhouse won two Pinnacle Awards from Ramada Franchise Systems, while another was awarded the 2007 Ramada Presidents Award.
AMY ZOBRIST
Regional Director of Operations
Ms Zobrist has been in the hospitality industry for 21 years. Her experience ranges from General Manager of a Best Western motel, Area Director of Operations to her current position as a Regional Director of Operations. Amy is a Certified Hotel Administrator who has preformed various volunteer work on different boards within the hospitality industry.
NANCY KELLY
Regional Director of Operations
Ms Kelly has been in the hospitality industry for 6 years. Her experience ranges from General Manager of a Red Roof Inn, Area Manager for Motel 6 motels to her current position as a Regional Director of Operations. Nancy also has experience in managing various retail stores. Ms Kelly received a B.S. and a M.B.A. degree from St. Cloud State University.
DOUG VOUGHT
Regional Director of Operations
Mr. Vought has over 25 years experience in the hospitality industry including 20 years of both single property and multi-property management including holding the positions of property Director of Sales, property General Manager, Corporate Director of National Sales, Area Director of Sales, Area Director of Operations.
Present and Former memberships include / included ......ABA, NTA, SYTA, IMG, Ontario Motorcoach. Civic Memberships past and present include Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Rotary International.
AMANDA MICHAEL
Regional Director of Operations
Miss Michael joined Royco Hotels over a year ago with more than 8 years of hospitality management experience including multi-property management. She has managed hotels in IL, KY, MO, TN, and WI and restaurants in IL and KY. Her titles in this industry have ranged from Front Desk Manager, General Manager, Mentor Manager, Training Manager and Area Manager to her current role as Regional Director of Operations. Miss Michael has shown a great ability to build a strong team that works together, always focused on their collective goals.
RODNEY KINSLOW
Regional Director of Operations
Mr. Kinslow joined Royco Hotels in January of 2008 with 14 years experience in the hospitality business. He served in the United States Army Military Police for 3 years and the Kentucky National Guard for 4 years. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Western Kentucky University. Mr. Kinslow entered the hotel business with a regional hotel company where he worked as a General Manager, Director of New Openings, and Director of Operations. Mr. Kinslow has served on several tourism related boards and other civic organizations.
PATRICIA KILGORE
Regional Director of Operations
Patricia Kilgore comes to Royco Hotels with over 20 years of success in Operational Management positions in the Hospitality industry. Patricia has worked from the ground up, achieving the accelerated position of President of Operations of a leading hotel company in the United States. Her experience with several of the largest hospitality organizations combined with independent hotels brings vast understanding and expertise in Strategic Planning, Performance & Quality Brand Standards, Project & Budget Management, Team Leadership & Motivation, Customer Satisfaction & Allegiance and Sales & Marketing. Ms Kilgore has a BS Degree in Management and Certification of Hotel Administrator.
HUGH OSBORNE
Regional Director of Operations
Mr. Osborne has 19 years experience in the hospitality industry, and has held various positions including Front Desk, General Manager, Training Manager, Openings Manager, Area General Manager, and Regional Operations Director. He has a wide background with extended-stay, economy, and mid-tier hotels in markets through out the Southeast United States. Within more than 12 years experience in multi-property operations, Hugh has had a 7-year focus on extended-stay properties. During his career he has been successful with new property openings, franchise relations, brand conversions, new company start-ups, and complete renovations.
MARTIN SIMON
Controller (United States)
Mr. Simon has more than 20 years experience in the accounting and management field. His experience ranges from tax and auditing in CPA firms, Financial Officer for food wholesale distribution center to his current position as Controller. Mr. Simon received a B.S. Business Administration Degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and has attained a CPA Certificate.
CINDY McCOMB
Controller (Canada)
With in excess of 10 years experience in public practice accounting as well as over 15 years serving as controller in various industries including oil & gas, marketing and real estate, Mrs. McComb also specializes in co-ordination of corporate reporting and analysis. Her areas of expertise include process mapping, project management and automated computerized solutions in management reporting and finance. She serves on various convention committees and bursary foundations in conjunction with local and international charities.
KEN GATES
Director of Human Resources
Mr. Gates has over 25 years in the hospitality industry which encompasses Hotel Front Desk to Executive Positions. His diverse background in Hotel Management, Property Management and Public Relations has taken his career to Utah, California and ultimately back to his home state of Nebraska. Ken has a CHA designation, multiple certifications in leadership development and will be integral in Roycos’ educational training programs . Ken is often quoted as saying “This is the greatest industry in the world and it’s the people in this business that make it all worth while!” His positive attitude will play an important role in Human Resources within Royco.
SHIRLEY GIBB
Director of Training Development
Miss Gibb has been working in the Finance & Transportation industry for more than 20 years which has broadened her knowledge and experience within the Training Development Field. She has developed and implemented administration Policies and Procedures for a large independent leasing company; has a strong background in office operations and has worked with human resources to facilitate effective staff orientation and training for documentation, marketing, administration and management personnel.
